To become Miss Southwest Michigan and then compete for Miss Michigan, requires personal commitment, hard work, talent and ambition.
To compete you must -
- Be between the ages of 17 and 24.
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be living and/or working full-time in Berrien or Van Buren counties and/or attending college full-time.
- Haved lived in Michigan for at least 6 months.
- Have never been convicted of a felony crime.
- Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.
- Be able to meet the time commitment and responsibilities.
Areas of Competition
There are five areas of competition for the Miss Program.
- Talent counts for 35% of a contestants score.
- Interview counts for 25% of a contestants score.
- Evening Wear counts for 20% of a contestants score.
- Swim Wear counts for 15% of a contestants score
- On-stage question counts for 5% of a contestants score.
Job Description
If chosen as Miss Southwest Michigan you will be expected to be a roll model, an ambassador, and a public relations representative. You will be expected to be a poised and confident, physically fit young woman.
Responsibilities will be to -
- Follow local, state and national contracts.
- Have an open, working relationship with the Executive Director and Prep Team Advisors.
- Be on time.
- Create and complete all paperwork and projects.
- Participate in speaking engagements.
- Participate in public appearances.
