Elizabeth Ann Jorgensen
Platform: Childhood Leukemia
Elizabeth Jorgensen, Miss Southwest Michigan Teen 2017, is a determined young woman who is passionate about her platform, which is to bring awareness to children with leukemia and other cancers. Elizabeth is the daughter of Paula Katowich and Timothy Jorgensen. She is the second daughter of three children. She is sixteen years old, a junior at Eau Claire High School, and maintains dual enrollment at Lake Michigan College. She participates in Cross Country, Track and the Symphonic Band. She also is an active member of her youth group.
From experience within her school and community, Elizabeth has the strong belief to bring awareness to the extra expenses of a child having cancer. It is close to her heart because her friend and classmate was diagnosed with cancer in sixth grade. She plans on speaking out about the additional cost, both finical and emotional, that families go through. Elizabeth is looking forward to giving comfort and support to these families.
Before graduating, Elizabeth plans on completing her Associates degree. Afterwards, she hopes to graduate from Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana with her Master’s degree in Journalism. She wants to travel the world, writing about people and places in need.
As Miss Southwest Michigan Teen 2017, Elizabeth plans to promote her platform, Childhood Leukemia, by raising money to help out families with children undergoing cancer treatments. She hopes that she can touch the people of her community with awareness for the issue.
